JOB SUMMARY:
Manage large and small scale manufacturing projects within Plant for both ongoing support and new product development. Evaluates, designs and implements manufacturing processes and equipment.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate, develop and implement manufacturing process and equipment.
- Manage large and small scale manufacturing projects to include project timelines and capital requests.
- Lead new equipment specification, selection, purchase and support on-site installation.
- Lead cross-functional teams in implementation of new processes, process changes, or significant manufacturing footprint changes.
- Provide support to manufacturing operations including new product introductions, cost savings analysis, quality initiatives, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide engineering support to plant as needed in machine operation, set-up and troubleshooting.
- Ensure equipment satisfies internal and external requirements for safe operation.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- BS in Manufacturing, Industrial, or other engineering discipline. Five (5) years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Hands on knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to support smooth flow, standardized work, and waste elimination
- Demonstrated capabilities in manufacturing process improvements.
- Competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent project management skills with a deadline orientation and focus.
- Ability to travel up to 10% including international.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- BS in Wood Engineering and/or knowledge in the wood processing industry is a considerable plus.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification or comparable problem solving
- CNC programing knowledge and/or experience.
